Using Genesis

1.Who these terms are between
Genesis is operated by its author, Blaise. By using Genesis you — the adult responsible for the device — agree to these terms on your own behalf and on behalf of any child you let use it. Children under 13 may use Genesis only with a parent or guardian's permission.
2.What Genesis is
Genesis makes personalized, illustrated children's stories with the help of artificial-intelligence models, keeps them in a Story Book on your device, reads them aloud, and offers a Word Lab. It is provided free today. Features described as “when enabled” below do not exist yet and will be announced in-app when they do.
3.AI-made content
The words and pictures in every Genesis book are generated by AI models (currently Claude by Anthropic for words, Flux via Replicate for pictures, ElevenLabs for the optional recorded voice) inside rules we wrote for age and tone, and every book carries a notice saying so. We test those rules continuously — see For parents for exactly what is and is not checked — but AI can still make mistakes. Read with your child; if a page is wrong, use the “Something's off?” link under it. We do not guarantee that any book will be error-free, complete, or suitable for a particular child.
4.Your stories
The stories, pictures, coloring pages, PDFs and videos Genesis makes for your child are yours to keep, print, read, and share within your family. To the extent we hold any rights in them, we grant you a perpetual, personal, non-commercial licence to use them. You may not resell Genesis books or present them as made by a human illustrator or author.
5.What you agree not to do
- Try to make Genesis produce content that is sexual, violent, hateful, or otherwise unsuitable for children — the app is built to refuse, and we may block a device or account that keeps trying.
- Enter another person's personal information into a story.
- Use automated tools to generate stories in bulk, probe the service, or run up our costs. We may apply rate limits, daily ceilings and, when accounts are enabled, per-account allowances.
- Copy, scrape or reverse-engineer the service beyond what the law allows.
6.Accounts (when enabled)
Accounts do not exist today. When enabled, an account will be created by a parent, with verifiable parental consent as described in the privacy notice, and the parent will be responsible for what is done with it. A parent may close the account and delete everything in it at any time.
7.Prices, purchases and print (when enabled)
Genesis is free today, with no purchases of any kind. When a paid edition, membership or printed Story Book is enabled, its price will be shown before anything is charged, every purchase will sit behind the “for grown-ups” check, and refunds will follow the store or processor's rules and applicable law. Printed books, when enabled, will be fulfilled through a third-party print shop with its own terms.
8.Availability
Genesis depends on outside AI providers. When one cannot be reached, or when a usage ceiling is hit, the app tells you plainly and, for stories, writes a simpler book from its own templates rather than failing. We may change, pause or discontinue any part of the service; because everything is on your device, your existing Story Book stays with you regardless.
9.Disclaimers and limits
Genesis is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of every kind and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim — today, nothing. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived.
10.Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date at the top changes when we do, and material changes will be shown in-app. Questions: hello@genesisstorybook.com.
